Our History
New Life began in the summer of 2003. In the summer of 2002, Yun and his wife Jean received a vision to plant a church that would reach the young people of Chicago that were sick of "doing church." As the planning of the church began in January 2003, the core group of New Life consisted of four people and a cat named Lucky. The group would meet in an apartment in Palatine to pray for a vision and plan on what God wanted this church to look like. With a vision "To become a community of believers that is committed to changing the world", New Life opened its doors on June 1, 2003.
With a vision of the 3 C's (Community, Committed, Change) as the pillar's of New Life, our goal is to become a ministry that will reach out to those that are sick of church and bring them back so they can experience God through our community. New Life desires to be a Christ-centered ministry geared towards reaching young adults (College to Marketplace). There is such a huge need for a church that is relevant in their teaching and preaching to this young generation. We want each person that steps foot into our church to experience the loving community that our church has. Our motto is for each person to "Come as you are, Leave different." Our prayer has been just that since the birth of our church plant and we have been able to see the Lord work in some great ways! Just like the vast army in Ezekiel 37 that was raised up in the valley of dry bones and was able to experience new life, New Life believes God desires the same for the young adults in Chicago.
There is such a huge need for a non-judgmental, culturally relevant church to reach the young people that surround us. We truly believe that God has given us this vision!
